New Mitsubishi Evolution X Concept

Even as the Mitsubishi Evolution IX reached the shores of Malaysia, Mitsubishi already has the Evolution X in the works and plans to unveil a concept version at the Frankfurt Motorshow next month.

I have to say that this concept has a very Skyline-ish front and I like the bumper. The overall feel of the look seems to have gone back to the Evolution VI tough and fierce looks instead of the more tame and streamlined look from the Evolution VIII onwards. This picture was sourced from Auto Express and the footnote credits the picture to MA Design which leads me to believe this is just an artist’s impression.

The car is believed to be based on the Mitsubishi Sportsback Concept which have been released by Mitsubishi or quite some time now.

Under the hood will be the classic Evo 4G63 2.0 liter four cylinder engine making a minimum of 320bhp, with high spec versions making over 400bhp in stock form, mated to an advanced all-wheel drive system.
We aren’t sure yet how the final car will look like, so let’s wait for the Frankfurt Motor Show.

New Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0GT Arrives in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, 7 August 2007 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia officially unveiled the new Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0GT today, regarded as one of Malaysia’s most highly anticipated launches.

The vehicle will be a welcome sight to the Malaysia automotive scene where the highly-evolved, performance-oriented Lancer 2.0GT is set to make headway with its elegant styling, top of class performance and comfortable ride.

Built on Mitsubishi's motor sports heritage, the new Lancer 2.0GT has been feted with praises and accolades from various parties since its much-anticipated arrival at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

The name Lancer is no stranger to success in the motor sports world, chalking up numerous racing awards and titles. Three glorious decades of commitment to the Racing Heritage has resulted in a positive learning curve that has continuously improved, creating the new Lancer 2.0GT.

Speaking to the media at the official launch ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia, Mr. Fumihiko Minami said, “We believe the new Lancer 2.0GT will appeal to a broad spectrum of performance sedan enthusiasts and those seeking a sporty and stylish daily drive in the medium-sized sedan segment.”

“Malaysia is one of the first countries to launch the new Lancer 2.0GT in Asia, followed by Singapore this weekend, and Japan in autumn. Malaysia has the biggest passenger-car market in ASEAN countries and I believe it is exceedingly important, to our sales strategy, that Malaysia be one of the first launching countries in the Asia and ASEAN region,” said Mr. Toshihiko Hattori, Corporate General Manager, Asia & ASEAN Office of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation.

“The new Lancer 2.0GT is now being introduced into a challenging segment, taking on major competitors from all over the world. Worldwide trends in this segment are for larger bodies and overall improved quality. In keeping with these developments, the new Lancer features numerous improvements in performance and comfort,” Mr. Hattori continued.

A further Evolution of Performance-Oriented Lancer

The new Lancer 2.0GT boasts a 2.0-liter Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) and MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing and lift Electronic Control) lightweight aluminum engine block which churns out 155PS at 6,000rpm and 199Nm at 4,250rpm. Equipped with CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), the new Lancer offers drivers a new height of driving enjoyment; an automatic transmission that is quiet and efficient. It eliminates the harshness and power lag of traditional gear changes. INVECS-III (Intelligent and Innovative Vehicle Electronic Control System) allows personalized driving conditions for each and every driver. Through careful mapping of each driver’s on-the-road habit, the system cleverly creates an optimized shift profile that anticipates driver actions.

The new Lancer 2.0GT now comes with the Sports Mode with Magnesium Paddle Shifters. It allows the driver to enjoy the racing feel with a 6-step shift control. The Paddle Shifters are built directly into the steering wheel, making shifting as easy as a flick of the finger. The new Lancer 2.0GT was designed with a spacious interior to complement its maximum driving performance, offering impressive leg room and front head room to ensure all occupants ample comfort all-round. Mitsubishi Motors’ engineers have spared no effort in perfecting the body structure of the new Lancer, resulting in greater flexural and torsional rigidity to provide greater stability, reduced noise and improved safety.

Boasting a sporty suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars coupled with 18” alloy wheels, the responsiveness of the new Lancer through tight corners and open roads can be likened to the current Lancer Evolution. ABS, EBD, Brake Assist and RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body are all standard safety features to give the driver and occupant peace of mind each time they step into the new Lancer 2.0GT. True to its commitment to quality and reliability, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia is offering a 5-year or 100,000km Warranty and 3-year or 50,000km Maintenance Free Program. Owners are assured of excellent after-sales support. Owners are provided with “Mitsubishi Assist 24” card which offers a host of privileges including 24 hour roadside assistance. Priced at RM112,806.10 (on the road without insurance), the new model is available in Red Metallic, Cool Silver Metallic, Medium Purplish Gray Mica and Black Mica.
